Hi Birders.
On Monday morning 11th of November I met Lorna and Alan from England at Medike in the Western Soutpansberg.Our aim was to hike at the top of the waterfall in Medike Mountain Lodge however as bird watching is our priority we had encountered some special birds along the trail.The highlights of some of the special birds amongst many birds were;
- Crested Guineafowl-very common
- Gorgeous Bushshrike
- Narina Trogon
- Eastern Nicator
- Striped Pipit
- Verreaux’s Eagle
- Shelley’s Francolin
- Lesser Honeyguide
- Cape Vulture-number of them.
- Yellow-Breasted Apalis
- Brubru
- Red-Chested Cuckoo
- Klaas’s Cuckoo
- Jameson’s Firefinch
- Yellow-Bellied Greenbul
- Rock Martin
- Speckled Pigeon
- Violet-Backed Starling
- Alpine Swift
- Yellow-Fronted Tinkerbird
- Orange-Breasted Bushshrike.
