The past weekend I had a very good opportunity to take Gauteng birders
and Cape Town around Soutpansberg and Punda Maria.
On Saturday morning we went to Roodewal Nature Reserve for morning
birding and we had some nice views of African Broadbill and to my
surprise he was not doing his usual call.Other birds from the Central
Soutpansberg we have seen include amongst others:
Blue Spotted Wood-Dove
Pink Throated Twinspot
Bat Hawk
Green Twinspot
African Pygmy Goose
Allen's Gallinule
African Crowned Eagle
Mountain Wagtail
Tambourine Dove
On Sunday morning we drove to Punda Maria and we did some birding from
Mahonie Lop and the route along S60 and the special birds we ticked
are as follows;
Dickinson's Kestrel
Monotonous Lark
Bateleur
Yellow-Billed Oxpecker
Double-Banded Sandgrouse
African Pygmy Kingfisher
Grey-Headed Bush-Shrike
Lesser Grey Shrike
Brubru
Lizard Buzzard
Broad-Billed Roller
Southern Ground Hornbill
Crowned Hornbill
European Roller.
Happy Birding.
