my sightings with you.In May I went out with birders
from abroad and most of them from local.
Our birding sites we covered include Roodewal Forest,Muirhead Reserve
forest and Entabeni forest.The notable birds we saw were non other than a single
male African Broadbill,a pair Crowned Eagles,Scaly throated Honeyguide at
Roodewal forest,a couple of pairs of African pygmy Goose,Green Twinspot,Red
backed
Mannikin at Muirhead
dams.At Entabeni forest as always a pair of Bat Hawk,Yellow streaked Greenbul,Yellow throated woodland Warbler to name some
few birds.
This months June I led a group of birders from Rand Barbet Bird Club around
Blouberg Nature Reserve and Leshiba Widerness and between them they ticked
some nice birds;Grey Penduline Tit,Short clawed Lark,Cape Rock Thrush,Cape
Vulture,Gorgeous Bushshrike,Olive Woodpecker,Bearded Scrub
Robin,Yellow-breasted Apalis and many more.
More exciting about some new
birds recently seen around Levubu area,Soutpansberg is the sightings of special birds Magpie Mannikin and
Short Clawed Lark around Schoemansdal area in Makhado(Lous Trichardt).There
were few records about these birds some years back
but recently it turn out to be common reliable in our area.
