I had a lovely birding weekend at Letaba Rest Camp apart from Raptors
Identification Course we were actually attending from 20th Thursday
until 23rd Sunday morning.
I had some several morning walks in the camp especially from Letaba
River,afternoon and evening drives around the park.Birding activity
was good through out the days I found myself having an incredible list
of birds and top of the birds I have seen include a number of
Vultures,eagles and storks.
I have seen different species of raptors including some of the vultures which are Hooded Vulture,White
Backed Vulture and White Headed Vulture,Tawny Eagle,Wahlberg's
Eagle,African Hawk Eagle,Martial Eagle,Brown Snake
Eagle,Bateleur,Yellow Billed Kite and African Fish Eagle.I had owls
like Barn Owl and African Scops Owl.Storks I have seen Yellow Billed
Stork,Saddle Billed Stork,Marabou Stork and Wooly Necked Stork.
An impressive list of birds around the camp,Letaba river and surrounds
are as follows Grey Headed Bushshrike,Orange Breasted Bushshrike,Red
Crested Korhaan,Yellow Throated Petronia,Southern White Crowned
Shrike, African Morning Dove,Laughing Dove,White Browed Robin Chat,Red
Billed Hornbill.Southern Grey Hornbill,African Paradise
Flycatcher,Black Backed Puffback,Cape Glossy Starling,Red Winged
Starling,African Green Pigeon,Black Collared Barbet,Kurichane
Thrush,Emerald Spotted Wood Dove,Crested Barbet,Golden Tailed
Woodpecker,Egytian Goose,Water Thick-Knee,Kori Bustard,Double Banded
Sandgrouse,Marico Sunbird,African Hoepoe,Cape Turtle Dove,African
Spoonbill,Red Winged Stilt,Natal Spurfowl,Marsh Sandpiper,Goliath
Heron,Pied Wagtail,Three Banded Lapwing,Cardinal Woodpecker,Diderick
Cuckoo,Green Wood Hoopoe andLong Billed Crombec.
