On Friday 30th October 2009 I went out with one of my client a
dedicated birder from Gauteng George Skinner.Despite of the bad
weather with a lot of heavy rain early morning George was very eager
for his lifers that eluded for several years as well as something to
add to his year list.
We started with Roodewal Nature Reserve,Luvuvhu River and Entabeni Forest.
It was still some light drizzling when we stopped at Roodewal Forest
and still I spotted some quality birds amongst others which include;
African Broadbill( lifer to George) a pairs of female and male displaying.
Narina Trogon(male and females)
Scaly Throated Honeyguide
Eastern Nicator
Tambourine Dove
Lizard Buzzard
Crested Guineafowl
African Crowned Eagle
Terrestrial Brownbul.
On our way to Entabeni we stopped at Luvuvhu River for White Backed
Night Heron that we tried with no luck but we were rewarded with a
beautiful sightings of a male African Finfoot
At Entabeni Forest I spotted two Bat Hawk (another lifer to George)
roosting on a big gum tree.
We decided to call it a day as the rain was pouring down heavily.
Thanks!
Regards,
